#23111-420 the runaways

hey dolls

The great, cheering irony of the Runaways is that they epitomized rock ’n’ roll without making very good records. Five teenage girls from broken and semi-broken California homes, they stuck a flag in the twitching corpse of mid-’70s hard rock and said: Women can do this, too. That they were pure, manipulated product does not detract from their historical importance or their musical effrontery. In rock, it’s about the attitude as much as the music. In some cases, more so.

And the Runaways were all attitude: Joan Jett cranking out troglodyte riffs on her rhythm guitar while Lita Ford outdid the boys for pop-metal wankery on lead; drummer Sandy West keeping a primitive tom-tom pulse while Jackie Fox held down bass; singer Cherie Currie out front like a cheerleader gone psycho, acting out beautiful, dumb “hits’’ like “Cherry Bomb.’’ From the Runaways flow the distaff rock bands that followed: Bangles and Go-Go’s and Breeders and Sleater-Kinney and Donnas, all the way to the tomboys playing in the garage down at the end of your block.

The first half of “The Runaways’’ keeps that promise in most of its pimply, headlong glory. Adapted from Currie’s memoir, “Neon Angel,’’ by the photographer/music-video director Floria Sigismondi, the film refuses to romanticize even when it’s bending the truth. (Fox chose not to participate, so a fictional bassist named Robin, played by Alia Shawkat, has been invented.) Jett, Currie, and the others are teen outcasts in Me Generation Los Angeles, aching to break out of their lives. You can feel their frustration, their need to make an unholy racket.

The movie pops to life when Jett (Kristen Stewart) introduces herself to music business Svengali Kim Fowley outside a club one night. Played in a deranged star-making performance by Michael Shannon, Fowley is a mercurial glam brute who immediately sees the potential for outrage in an underage girl band. He bullies the Runaways into being.

In this telling, West (Stella Maeve) is the placid emotional anchor and Ford(Scout Taylor-Compton) is mostly an afterthought, despite her notable heavy-metal solo career. The drama kicks in when Fowley recruits nightclubbing lost girl Currie (Dakota Fanning) as the group’s frontwoman. “I like your style,’’ he says. “Want to be in a band?’’

The best scenes in “The Runaways’’ involve long, antagonistic practice sessions in a cramped trailer, Fowley berating the girls with creative invective while joining Jett to compose “Cherry Bomb’’ after Currie shows up to audition with a Peggy Lee song. Later he instructs them on the finer points of dodging flying beer bottles; Jett discovers to her delight that she can volley them back into the audience with her guitar. The concert sequences sound great, in no large part because Jett (who coproduced) has newly re-recorded the songs for maximum sonic boom.

Currie’s fractured home life is also sketched in with paint-peeling details: a self-dramatizing actress mom (Tatum O’Neal, unrecognizable and excellent), a drunk dad (Brett Cullen), a twin sister (Riley Keough, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and thus a certified Elvis DNA carrier) who’s quietly crushed that fame doesn’t come in twos. After a while, the Runaways make it big — sort of — and the movie shifts into a much more conventional story of too-much-too-soon, with Fowley trying to turn Currie into the star, and the singer retreating into drug abuse and bad behavior. A sad story and an old one, and “The Runaways’’ does little to make it compelling all over again.
Maybe that’s why Fanning seems tentative for the first time in her illustrious little career. Eerily inventive when she plays fictional characters, the actress may be hampered by the film’s generic rise-and-fall rock journey. Then, too, this Cherie Currie is a waif seeking a persona, and Fanning can’t seem to give the drift any bite or meaning.

Ironically, while Fanning’s almost certainly the better actress, Stewart gives the better performance in “The Runaways.’’ I wouldn’t have thought it possible; Stewart has never shown the edge or aggression of a rocker like Jett, and her sullenness seems insubstantial — reactive rather than pro-active. Yet she hunches in on her guitar like a boxer entering a protective crouch, and her voice has a husky, cut-the-crap directness. She owns the movie with a swagger all the more believable for not being overplayed.

With a few exceptions, that’s the real Jett’s singing voice we hear, but Stewart’s imposture convinces. And when “The Runaways’’ gets to the scene where Jett finally moves in on Currie with a lascivious sneer — a kink in the boredom of the road — it’s like a “Twilight’’ of the rock ’n’ roll demi-gods. For all the lip-service “The Runaways’’ pays to the lead singer, its heart is with Team Joan.

#23111-419 the sorcerer's apprentice

Jerry Bruckheimer seems fair enough...as long as i remember...all his movies features actions...actions...and more actions...this one is no exception...thank god this movie is no Harry Potter movie...harry potter movies are heavy and kinda deep...somehow i do wonder how come it came out as a children's book...

Off with the movie...it started with a scene from the merlin's time...whereas merlin who had 3 apprentices...balthazar played by nicolas cage (bukan nama setan ker nieh?), veronica (monica bellucci) and horvath (alfred molina)....then we seen merlin killed by morgana after getting some help by maxim...veronica then cast a spell to trap morgana inside her body and have balthazar to trap veronica in the grimhold...just before merlin died...he gave balthazar his dragon ring and saying that someday there would be a man strong enough and have all his qualities to become the successor of merlin called the prime merlineum...aha....

Thruout the thousands of years to the year 2000...balthazar finally found the one...but unfortunately he was trapped in a vase after dave accidentally released horvath from the grimhold...and trapped he was for another ten years....fast forward to 10 years later...dave is now a physics student in the university...

Balthazar and horvath finally managed to escaped from the vase and in pursuit of finding the grimhold to free morgana in her quest to conquer the world (arghhh cliche sungguh)...horvath managed to find dave and was saved by balthazar just in time...then horvath realise that dave is the prime merlineum...he then went on to find the descendent of the morganians whom turn out to be an some magician celebrity...hurmmm...anyway...horvath with his new 'apprentice' went on in pursuit of killing dave...but been saved by balthazar over and over again...

Until the end sequence...balthazar managed to free morgana from the grimhold and was casting the spell to raise the dead evil witches around the world only to be put a stop by dave who now became the prime merlineum and dave save the world...and also he got the girl of his dream...balthazar too...owh yeah...veronica also was released from the grimhold la...happy ending...a total cliche...but it was nicely done though...

Overall the movie was entertaining...it was fast paced and give no time for harrypotter-like lengthy conversations...which i like by the way since i am opting for a really light movie...for pure entertainment...the actions was seriously cool...battle sequences in every 10 mins or so...which is great...balthazar vs horvath...balthazar vs chinese magician....balthazar vs horvath & andre...balthazar & dave vs sun lok...and many more...so there's no short of magic use thruout the movie...and physics...hurmmm...with some injected humor in between the action sequences does bring up the mood...and i think this movie is a great entertaining movie...just for pure entertainment...just put the logical mind behind and enjoy it....i enjoyed the movie...heheheh...now i wish i can be a magician...it has a lot to do with physics you know...and owh yeah...i was a physics undergrad...maybe i can be a magician...hahaha...dream on...

#23111-416 Leo + sagittarius

hey dolls

di sebabkan kegedikkan yg terlampau so saya google benda nie...miahahahaha ok saya nak lariks :P

Sagittarius + Leo

Fire + Fire = Explosion

It’s pretty hard to beat the compatibility between Sagittarius and Leo. Both of you radiate warmth, power and beauty, and this is reflected in the open honesty of your relationship … if you happen to bump into each other on the road of life.

Very few star signs can handle your blunt approach, but a fire sign like Leo can. Not only do they handle you; they thrive on you. There’s a karmic connection between you. Both of you will feel as if you know each other really well, even if you’ve just met. You mirror each other’s enthusiasm for life and enjoy what the other has to offer.

You’ll take Leo by the hand and inspire them to travel, explore and discover the world. This will fill Leo with light and warmth.

Sagittarius, you sometimes forget all about the feelings of others when you’re dishing out the truth. And Leo is proud, so is there a danger that your ruthlessly honest tongue could inflict deep wounds on them? No, not really.

Leo will need to learn how to listen to what you have to say without reacting too strongly, but basically they understand that your honesty isn’t a cruel cut, but is rather an attempt to help and improve.

Leo, being a Sun sign, has an enthusiastic and energetic approach to life. If you are a typical Sagittarian, you will be far more easygoing than your Leo partner, but you will understand their needs and bring out the better side of their nature.

There’s a creative spark in your sexual relationship, as fire is spontaneous, fresh and alive. Your physical connection should be loving and very invigorating. This is one of the better sexual combinations of the zodiac.

You seem to have a strong destiny with Leos born between 24 July and 4 August, because the Sun and Leo rule your higher learning. You’ll learn a lot about yourself if you have a relationship with these Leos — there will be many flashes of insight.

You see a lot of yourself in Leos born between 5 August and 14 August. They share many of your traits: optimism, love of travel and general curiosity. You’ll be able to engage in plenty of entertaining and valuable discussions with them.

There are some great love affairs between Sagittarians and Leos born between 15 August and 23 August. The additional rulership of Mars and Aries promises passion and sexual satisfaction. Make sure your health is strong — you’ll need it to be to keep up with these demands!

#23111-415 Leo loves sagi

#23111-414 sagittarius

Hey dolls

melissa suruh saya baca blog ini;... pasal astrology .. ada persamaan so sile baca ok :P
for those yg tak tau i'm sagittarius :P

http://www.astrology.com.au/12signs/sagittarius.asp

SAGITTARIUS

Sagittarius is undoubtedly one of the most positive of the star signs. You were born under the ninth sign, which is ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter’s traditional name was Jove, hence your jovial attitude.

You’re extremely confident in whatever you do. Being one of the luckiest signs, fortune seems to favour you, whether you plan things or not. That’s also the reason you don’t mind taking the odd risk or two. You feel as if you can’t possibly lose. This almost cocky attitude is something that attracts people to you.

You’re also very enthusiastic, and this is contagious — people can’t help but feel the same way in your presence.

Because people like you so much, they want to help you achieve your goals. But sometimes your life objectives are colossal — those arrows seem to shoot much further than the eye can see. Your philosophy is to bite off more than you can chew and then chew as fast as you can.

People around you will sometimes feel that you’re overly ambitious, and that your aims are pie in the sky. This is not likely to change you: you’d always rather aim high and take on the adventure of life than get to the end of the road regretting that you didn’t have a good go at making your dreams come true.

One of your primary lessons in life will be related to this. You will need to learn that there are limits to what you’re capable of, and how to recognise them. Making sure your goals are actually practical enough to be achieved is another side of this one.

You have a great sense of timing, and know just when to make your move. This is because Sagittarius also governs knowledge, wisdom and spirituality. You know you can trust your gut feeling, so call on it when you need it.

Personal growth and understanding is a key aspect of your personality. You hate the idea of waltzing blindly through life without understanding — or finding — its meaning. This seems like a bit of a contradiction, because you’re quite a party animal too, but you do have this deeper side to your character.

So you’re constantly looking for meaning in your life, trying to figure out what makes the world tick, and planning and dreaming about how you can extract the maximum benefit from your time here. This is vitally important to you, so you’ll go to great lengths to find what you’re searching for.

Your totem, the Centaur, which is half man and half beast, describes you and the way you live your life perfectly. The Centaur has a bow and arrow and is aiming at the sky. This is you to a T. High ambitions.

Because you are so positive, you see the possibilities as endless. You never take no for an answer, and you always see the cup as half full, not half empty. Adventure is your second name, and you will have a strong desire to travel and seek out new experiences. Visiting different countries and exploring diverse cultures will add to your all-round happiness. This curiosity also comes with a dose of restlessness, though.

You have a genuine interest in getting to the truth and be part of whatever environment you’re in, but you are easily bored if the mental stimulation is missing. This is especially true when we put ‘Sagittarius’ in the same sentence as ‘relationship’.

Lots of people don’t get where you’re coming from. You’re serious about relationships, but you need a ton of stimulation and variety to keep love alive. You love to flirt and show off, but you need to be careful with this — if you’re in a relationship it will cause problems.

You love freedom, and this applies to relationships, your family situation and your work: you hate anyone tying you down. It’s as if you’re Peter Pan and want to stay forever young and free. You’ll need to balance this passion for independence with some responsibility and commitment sooner or later.

You’re a gambler in life, with money as well as with relationships, but you always seem to land on your feet. Even when you lose, which you do from time to time, your light-hearted and optimistic nature means you believe you’ll get it together again soon, without any trouble. And strangely, that’s usually true.

Your independent and free nature, though it’s one of your biggest assets, could cause you some difficulties. You are likely to expect everyone you come into contact to give you the freedom you want. People around you have to learn that this is an absolutely basic requirement for you.

At work, if you’re not allowed to make choices about how you do your work, you won’t work at your best. You rely very much on yourself, and if your employers give you a free hand, you’ll do great work — people will see this side of your personality at its best.

We said earlier that Jupiter is psychic, and that you have keen foresight. That sixth sense is behind many of the decisions you make, and the more you trust that higher power, the more rewarding your life will be. Your decisions will usually be correct.

Overall, you see life as a challenge, but also as a grand adventure in which you must play your part fearlessly. Nothing much will hold you back, and even when the odd adversity arises you’ll see it as part of your learning curve and accept it with a smile.

#23111-409 THE LAST AIRBENDER

hey dolls

last weekend i pegi tengok wayang with my gurls.. since kitaorg masing2 dah tgk banyak movie, so we decided to watch the airbender.... baru keluar cite nie :P

Which happens to be better than the movie itself...its not that the movie sucks...its just not up to my expectation...and my expectation was quite high upon watching the trailer...to be fair...the visual effects, CGI and cinematography was top-notch...

The movie started of with these two siblings from the water nation who found aang, the airbender in the middle of the ice only to be captured by the outcast firebender prince from the fire nation...then aang escaped and along with the two siblings en route back to the airbender temple where he grew up only to know that all of the airbenders had been killed by the firebenders as the firebenders feared with the avatar that was said to be born among the airbenders in this round of re-incarnation...and that aang was trapped in that ice for 100 years...

The upset aang then went on the journey with the two siblings to the earthbender nation...only to be captured among all the 'benders' and suddenly he became their hero with his not-so-convincing speech (but he managed to evoke a rebellion of the earthbenders against the ones who hold them captive...the firebenders)...aang then embraced his avatar fate and went on to learn all the four elements in which that only the avatar can master (other people can only bend one element of their nation)...the first up was the water element...then again they went on the journey to the water kingdom to learn from the waterbender 'mahaguru'...

The firebenders managed to locate aang and send up an army to the water kingdom...and the bloodbath begins...aang...being an avatar...he can't hurt anyone...but he has to show how powerful he is...and he showcase some waterbending technics including the big tsunami which sent the firebenders packing back to their fire nation...the movie ended with everyone in the water kingdom worshipping aang...and the fire king telling his daughter (whois known to be the best firebender in the firebending history) that she has to stop aang from learning the other 2 elements...earth and fire...the end...or i might say...wait for the sequel...if there's going to be one...

Overall the movie was slow-paced...unlike the sorcerer's apprentice which was fast-paced and fun (i am comparing between the two as both have the 'magic-combat' thingie premise)...and the acting was kinda dull a bit...technology saved this movie from being a total bore...the CGI sequences was fantastic...the cinematography was top notch...the art direction was awesome...thruout the movie, the characters have to perform some sort of tai chi before they can summoned their elements...some are even in a group synchronised tai chi...and there was this one part where the earthbenders was doing 'haka' thingie...it was kinda funny actually...casting? other than dev patel (of Slumdog Millionaire fame) i dont know anyone else...owh yeah you might almost missed that guy from the twilight saga...you know...the cullen who can't control himself upon seeing bella's blood...he is the big bro of the waterbender...and he scored with an ice princess...way to go...yuhooo...owh yeah enough...for me...i was totally drawn to movie because of the trailer...but not that satisfied with the movie itself...hope that the sequels would be better (if they are planning any)...

#23111-408 Ombak rindu

I SUKE BER TWIT.... hahahaha dialog cuci the musical 2....

ok masa tgh tgk tweet2 org ternampak ada org tulis pasal ombak rindu akan dijadikan filem..... ombak rindu nie novel, zaman2 study dulu i mmg novel freak.. stock nak jiwang ajer...  ;p hahahahha

tapi biase lah ada ramai yg tak puas hati cuz casting diaorg agak merepeks skit.. ;p takut jadi mcm lagenda budak setan..

;p encem

lisa surihani sebagai mila - seorang yg agak terkenal, gedik2, kaya.. hurm first time kowt tgk lisa bawak watak gedik tak tau la dia sesuai ke tak.. cuz lisa selalu jadi org yg baik2 aje.... ramai jugak yg complain dia tak sesuai bawak mila, cuz dia baru and lakonan blm hebat lagi and dia agak lembut.. hahaha korang cite blm siap pun, dah complain kan? ramai kata fazura lagi sesuai bawak watak mila ... ;p tapi kalo fazura yg bawak rasanya takde org complain kowt.. dia tu simply flawless.... admire dia sgt :)

ni lagi satu watak yang akan kontroversi. maya karin sebagai izzah, haish.. confused jap.. rasanya macam tak sesuai la dia bwk izzah.. izzah tu lembut, bdk kampung, penyabar, sgt la innocent. takde ciri2 tu la dlm diri maya karin... watak nie kalo lisa tu bawak ok kowt...

haish tak tau nak ckp hopefully cite ombak rindu nie best and tak mengecewakan macam lagenda budak setan.. ;(
